best mechanical keyboard under 75

Many of the best gaming keyboards are mechanical, and they’re not cheap either. Well-known brands tend to charge over $100 for their mechanical keyboards, especially wireless models.  The Rama Works U80-A, one of our keyboard reviewers’ endgame keyboards, is an example of the high price point mechanical keyboard enthusiasts are willing to pay for limited-run, luxury custom kits.

There are, however, a number of reasons why you don’t want (or can afford) to spend hundreds on a keyboard, especially if you need to buy other peripherals as well. You can get a satisfying, clicky typing experience for less than $100 — or even less than $80 — with a mechanical keyboard. These mechanical keyboard mods can help you improve a keyboard that’s less-than-perfect if you end up with one. The best mechanical keyboard under 75 comes with features that will satisfy all your needs. To start with, they are reliable and have long life

Aukey KM-G14 TKL Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

Check and buy from Amazon

With the $50 G14, Aukey has improved the build quality and software without raising prices, making it one of the most affordable mechanical gaming keyboards on the market. Although this TKL keyboard is chunky, it does not have a number pad; if you want one, see Aukey’s G12.

This keyboard has a metal frame, even though it’s made from plastic, so it won’t slide around when you’re playing games. In addition, the back of the keyboard has two sets of flip-out feet that allow you to choose from three typing angles — something you don’t always find on more expensive keyboards. Aukey also added routing on the bottom of the USB cable so you can send it to the left, right, or center, even though it’s attached to the body.

clicky switches

It has a tactile bump that can be felt and heard on its blue clicky switches, making them ideal for typing and gaming alike. If you share a workspace with someone, you should be aware of the loud click of these switches). Also, there is no pinging from the switch springs, as there is on the slimmer full-size G12 keyboard, so you can hear just their click. Overall, the typing experience is solid. There is some key wobble, but it is relatively minor.

When the backlight is off, it’s difficult to read the keycap legends. You can always replace the keycaps, too, and Aukey includes a puller, too. With 18 preprogrammed lighting options and four brightness levels, there’s no need to keep them off entirely while you work. The keyboard comes with software for creating custom RGB lighting, setting up macros, changing key assignments and saving multiple profiles. Whether you’re starting out in mechanical keyboards or just getting into them for fun, you’ll find the G14 to be a great place to start. Read more on VicTsing Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

Razer Cynosa V2 Gaming Keyboard

Check and buy from Amazon

In case you prefer a membrane keyboard for office work, the Cynosa may be the perfect gaming keyboard. There are no mechanical keys on this keyboard, so the keys are quieter and a bit softer than the others here, so some may find them mushy. For $60, this keyboard is an excellent option if you plan on using it for both work and play.

Featuring per-key RGB lighting and durable spill-resistant design, the Cynosa has many of its original features back, including per-key RGB lighting. A new feature is the addition of media keys in the upper right corner. Razer also added cable routing under the keyboard to improve the cleanliness of your desk.  Read more on Best  Keyboards for office use

A lot of preset lighting effects are available on this keyboard, as well as the ability to create your own with Synapse 3.0 software. It’s also one of the most programmable keyboards here. You can also set up a secondary set of functions for your keys that are accessed with the “shift” key. You can also rebind keys and set macros with Razer’s Hypershift feature. Read more on Best Mechanical Keyboards Under $ 50

Whirlwind FX Atom

Check and buy from Amazon

There isn’t much difference between Whirlwind FX’s Atom 60% mechanical gaming keyboard and similar sized options. As a space saver, its compact design allows for extra mousing space while you play. Travelers can also easily slip it into a backpack. There are three mechanical switches offered by the company, each illuminated with RGB LEDs. The company also offers a removable braided USB-C cable.

Despite being a small keyboard, this keyboard really shines with its backlighting, or rather the software that controls it.

It is possible to choose different lighting effects for the keyboard when using the SignalRGB app as well as when using media such as a game. A library of game integrations is included with the app. During my testing of Battlefield V, for example, the keyboard lights turned red when the HP was low and green when the HP was healed. In Fortnite, the keyboard will turn pink and red when you take damage, and purple when you gain experience with the Fortnite integration. It is possible to integrate the company’s open-platform lighting software with a variety of games, and if you have a flair for tinkering, you can even make your own.

In addition to adding effects to your other RGB gaming peripherals with SignalRGB, you can also request others that are not currently supported. It supports more than 150 devices from Razer, Corsair, HyperX, Logitech, SteelSeries and others.  We reviewed the Whirlwind FX Atom keyboard if you prefer a full-size keyboard. It offers the same switch options, but includes directional keys and a number pad. Read more on Best Mechanical Keyboards Under $100

 Logitech G413 Carbon Gaming Keyboard

Check and buy from Amazon

Its lower-end models, such as the G413 backlit gaming keyboard, are not built to cut corners on build quality and components. With its slim, simple, and durable keyboard design and brushed aluminum-magnesium alloy top case, this keyboard uses the same Romer-G Tactile switches found in its more feature-filled models. In addition to the braided USB cable, there are channels under the mouse and headset for cable management. On the back right there is a USB pass-through port.

You won’t hear or feel any clicks when you activate the tactile key switch, just a subtle bump and a short actuation. If you love to hear and feel your key presses, this probably isn’t the switch for you. This keyboard has only one color backlight, red, but the backlighting is bright and easy to read. We didn’t notice much difference between the 12 faceted keycaps and the non-faceted keycaps on this full-sized keyboard.

With Logitech’s G Hub software, you can program the F1-F12 buttons to perform macros and custom functions, and the Windows key will be turned off in game mode. Although it is more polished than the other mechanical gaming keyboards here, it is also more expensive.Read more on  best keyboard for typing under 1000

Corsair K57 RGB Wireless Gaming Keyboard

Check and buy from Amazon

You can get a wireless gaming keyboard with lights with the K57. It uses rubber-dome switches with a pronounced actuation point, similar to the Razer Cynosa, so it feels like an office keyboard. It is a little more forceful when gaming on it than on the mechanical keyboards, and it has fewer rollover options than the mechanical keyboards here. Apart from that, it is fine. Also related: Best Tactile Switches in 2023

For lag-free gaming, you can connect the K57 wirelessly by using Bluetooth or Corsair’s Slipstream technology, which uses a tiny USB-A adapter. With a Micro-USB cable included, the keyboard can also be charged. When you use the RGB lighting per-key, it doesn’t have the same longevity as the Logitech, but you can play for several days without charging it up.

With discrete media controls on the right and dedicated macro keys on the left, the features are completed. It’s also easy to use Corsair’s software, so you can set up macro keys and create custom keyboard lighting easily. However, you’re paying more for those features at $80. Read more on best keyboard for gaming

Logitech G613 Wireless Gaming Keyboard

Check and buy from Amazon

The G613’s Lightspeed wireless performance performs equally well as wired, and the battery life is incredible at up to 18 months on two AA batteries. Finding a good wireless gaming keyboard is not an easy task. These babies are hard to come by. Despite the fact that it’s understandable for the power savings, the keyboard doesn’t have any backlighting whatsoever, which ruins the gaming experience when it’s dark. A good thing is that there are six programmable buttons on the left side of the device.

Everything I said about the G413 applies to the G613 since it uses Romer-G Tactile mechanical switches. The switch feels good for gaming and typing, but I was in the minority when we tested it. If you’re considering buying this wireless keyboard, you should definitely try it out before you buy.Read more on The Best Keyboards for 2023
