Best ram to pair with 5800x3d

best ram to pair with 5800x3d

Computer memory runs at a maximum speed determined by your CPU, motherboard, and memory type. This maximum speed means that stock DDR4 memory will provide the highest possible performance on the Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU when used with DDR4-3200 memory. The motherboard specifications indicate how many overclocked-memory speeds the motherboard supports. You can exceed these stock speeds when overclocking memory. There are best ram to pair with 5800x3d which can offer you the best performance in your PC. They are not necessarily expensive but they are worth it.

If your CPU or motherboard does not support the maximum speed of memory, underclocking can also be used to achieve compatibility. Using underclocking to achieve precision underclocking requires a motherboard that supports memory overclocking. Without this support, the memory may perform at a slower speed than the maximum memory speed supported. Use the motherboard and CPU’s maximum speed to achieve the maximum memory speed without overclocking support. Additionally, the motherboard manufacturer’s website typically indicates which memory kits are compatible with a particular motherboard. By looking at the specifications, you can verify whether the motherboard supports a particular speed.

best ram to pair with 5800x3d

 Capacity: 32GB (2x16GB) | Clock speed: 3600MHz | CAS Latency: 14 | Die: Samsung B | RGB: Yes

A proactive approach to fine tuning

The potential for overclocking is outstanding

 A unique appearance

 It’s expensive

Our best ram to pair with 5800x3d lists has already crowned Teamgroup’s Xtreem RGB as best RAM. We chose the 32GB version since it’s a bit less expensive than 16GB. As it’s designed for the AM4, it’s as optimized as it gets. Plus, getting more RAM is a great way to protect your system. Although the Xtreem is still a significant investment, it’s unquestionably the best RAM for Ryzen 7 5800X3D.

There’s nothing wrong with the Xtreem from its presentation to its raw power, and it’s a rare example of RAM that just works. On the first hand, there’s an unusual heat spreader painted dark indigo with a mirror-like surface. Besides reducing heat, the RAM is also characterized by its aluminum bar, which houses its lights. These are the most interesting visual features of the RAM.

Your PC will come to life when fifteen LEDs on each stick emit light. When combined with the mirror, they create an intense visual experience that becomes increasingly dim near the edge. It’s no exaggeration to say this memory experience is unique since no other memory manufacturer offers something like it. Furthermore, you can choose how to control it. You can use Teamgroup’s own software, or you can use the motherboard to control it.

Compatibility With The Ryzen 7 5800X3D

Keeping in mind the lighting’s superior performance, Teamgroup cherry-picked Samsung B-die for the ICs to ensure it is capable of operating at impressive speeds right out of the box while still having room for growth, the Xtreem’s hardware configuration aligns with the lighting’s superior performance. By simply engaging XMP, this memory can achieve a top spot in our list because it sets the frequency to 3600MHz at an excellent 14.15-15-35. It draws 1.45V to maintain this. While not ideal, such voltages are within safe limits.

It is impressive to know that at this point you can still tweak the RAM. You may keep it at 3600MHz, but lower the CAS latency to 13. You may also increase the frequency. While a steady CAS speed at CL16 will yield a smoother experience in games like Distant Worlds 2, going past 4000MHz will not yield as much improvement as on Intel systems.

G.Skill Trident Z Neo

best ram to pair with 5800x3d

Capacity: 16GB (2x8GB) | Clock speed: 3600MHz | CAS Latency: 16 | Die: Samsung B | RGB: Yes

Affordably priced compared to Teamgroup’s RAM

For better performance, it can be tweaked

Is suitable for a wide variety of styles

A lack of consistency in overclocking

If you’re interested in a kit that performs just as well as the Xtreem but isn’t so expensive, you should check out the second pillar of Ryzen RAM, G.Skill’s Trident Z Neo. While it’s slightly less fine-tuned than the Xtreem, it offers similar overclocking options. Despite being a fantastic pick from a technical standpoint, G.Skill’s offering has other benefits that make it even better.

In particular, if you are already a Trident fan, its appearance might be one of the reasons you like it. Its latest DDR4 incarnation enhances the design with a bolder design, which adds a split-in design to its signature prongs. You’ll be able to blend in with whatever case and component selection you have with the Neo with its black brushed aluminum on one half and the stunning silver finish on the other.

RGB Extravaganza!

Compared to Teamgroup’s or Corsair’s memory products, the Neo’s lighting is much more traditional. The lighting is atmospheric and easy to control by means of a diffuser that breaks up harsh source light, creating a softer, more transient light. The result is a more subtle, but still atmospheric glow, not to mention an easy way to control it. Although we are partial to using G.Skill’s software, we think it’s just as effective to let the motherboard do it.

In this particular case, G.Skill did not skimp on its integrated circuits for memory. In addition to the B-die, there is also a sizeable price difference, and although the timings are looser, it is still a welcome improvement. When using XMP alone, you will experience a latency of 16-19-19-39 and the RAM will be powered by 1.35V. It’s good news for enthusiasts that that’s not the highest it can go.

In the same way as the Xtreem, the Neo can swing either way if your sample is one of the better ones. By tightening the timings, you can bring them as low as CL14. Conversely, increasing the frequency will yield a 600MHz boost with an 18% decrease in latency. The best part about a pairing like this is that when overclocked, gaming performance is almost as good as the Xtreem’s. The only thing that runs slightly slower is artificial tasks and productivity work.

CORSAIR Dominator Platinum RGB

 check and buy from Amazon

best ram to pair with 5800x3d

Capacity: 16GB (2x8GB) | Clock speed: 3600MHz | CAS Latency: 18 | Die: Samsung B | RGB: Yes

It performs well, but there is some room for tweaking

A unique and excellent lighting system

 Software companion that is outstanding

Software for motherboard sync is not compatible with tall lights

It has a long history of quality and innovation when it comes to PC components. The Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB, for example, improves upon an already attractive design by introducing lighting Corsair developed in-house. The config software is the best in the business, and it’s pretty fast. You’ll also get the best configuration software in the business for free. In terms of performance, it’s great, but it earns a high ranking due to its off-the-charts style factor.

Users unfamiliar with the first batch of Dominator Platinum memory may be taken aback by the tallness of the DIMMs. You will need to pay attention to make sure the memory is compatible with larger coolers before you buy it, since the memory exceeds the 50mm mark. Aside from potential conflicts, you can choose between a black or white heat spreader, making the memory imposing and beautiful.

With its combination of bright yet efficient lighting that occupies a minimal footprint, Corsair’s flagship RAM makes an impact, even when it runs well enough. Each module has twelve Capellix lights at its top to help it achieve just that. Even though that would be enough to prove Corsair’s point, iCUE proves to be the real clincher. It’s a multifaceted software suite that lets you manage your lights, tweaks & monitors.

Performance For Days

Due to the fact that the Dominator is already quite expensive, Corsair decided to tone down the timings to 18-19-19-39 to help with the cost of the device. As compared to SK Hynix dies used in 3200MHz RAM kits, Samsung B-die is used in the 3600MHz version here. However, the RAM here isn’t as finely balanced as it is on G.Skill RAM and Teamgroup RAM. However, that does not mean that a determined user is unable to alter the voltages to make it post at a slightly lower latency, like CL16.

If gaming is your main focus, the Dominator will go well with a 5800X3D in terms of performance. In games like Elden Ring or Dying Light 2, you can expect framerate differences between our two top entries in the low single digits. Meanwhile, Artificial Testing with Cinebench, as well as tasks like video encoding, are not as fast as they should be.

Thermaltake TOUGHRAM RGB

 check and buy from Amazon

best ram to pair with 5800x3d

Capacity: 16GB (2x8GB) | Clock speed: 3600MHz | CAS Latency: 18 | Die: SK Hynix C | RGB: Yes

 An excellent performance

 Aesthetics & lighting are excellent

Considering what it offers, it should be cheaper

Our trend of the best ram to pair with 5800x3d continues with Thermaltake’s latest offering. In addition to thermal efficiency, this kit offers a wide variety of lighting controls, as well as the possibility of customizing the lighting. None of these things take away from the fact that this kit has the power to boost frames or crunch numbers.

The Toughram kit comes with a lifetime warranty, but we have not encountered many that appear to be as robust as the one provided by Toughram. The thick aluminum heat spreaders, with their beautiful brushed finish, ensure excellent heat transfer. If you choose to eliminate black and replace it with outlandish colors like yellow or green, it can make them as colorful as the RGBs themselves. There are a number of options available, ranging from white to outlandish.

Thermaltake has split up the RGB stick into three segments, each segment separated by mirror-like bars that form the Thermaltake logo cleverly in conjunction with other parts of the stick. In addition to synchronization of lighting with all major motherboard manufacturers’ software, the company has its own lighting control system that is also a given.

In truth, Thermaltake did a wonderful job designing an easy-to-use user interface with some excellent features. Such features include temperature monitoring, lighting control, and even the ability to control lighting through your smart speaker if you have an Amazon Alexa device.

Steering Away From Samsung

Toughram is the first RAM in the guide not to use Samsung ICs when the spreaders are removed or used with Typhon Burner. It’s not bad that Thermaltake opted for SK and its C-die instead, which is not a bad alternative. With a frequency of 3600MHz at 1.35V and latencies set to 18-19-19-39, it’s definitely good enough for XMP setup. You can also increase the frequency by 400MHz without touching the timings.

Performance-wise, Toughram falls somewhere in the middle of the pack. When testing for framerates at various resolutions, though, it consistently occupies a spot somewhere in the top third.

Patriot Viper Steel

best ram to pair with 5800x3d

Capacity: 32GB (2x16GB) | Clock speed: 3600MHz | CAS Latency: 18 | Die: SK Hynix M | RGB: No

 Definitely worth the money

With minimal effort, this product performs well

 Excellent for SFF PCs

It’s not worth it to overclock.

We have dealt with all the 5800X3D RAM so far, but the bling made it more expensive than it should have been. Patriot offers Viper Steel memory to cater to the cost-saving market segment. It isn’t as pretty to look at as other Ryzen 7 5800X3D RAM, but that’s fine, as it will still perform admirably in games as well as productivity-oriented applications.

Despite its barebones appearance, Viper Steel isn’t exactly ugly. The heat spreader is a bit unique with a gray background and sharp black accents. Speaking of sharp, there’s a fanged viper logo on each stick that adds character. You should not have to change anything about your cooling setup, but it’s a good idea to double check beforehand. The DIMMs are 45mm tall.

Patriot sells the Viper Steel in packs as large as 64GB, so gamers should find 32GB more than sufficient for the foreseeable future. With 32GB in each slot, you will be able to fit the RAM easily into micro-ITX motherboards within small form factor cases, and 64GB of Viper Steel memory is cheaper than 32GB of Xtreem.

Price Over Quality?

It is not surprising that the price disparity is due to differences under the hood. Viper Steel kits come with SK Hynix M-die, which has a lower overclocking ceiling and stability than B-die. As the XMP profile’s default setting is 3600MHz at 1.35V with CL18 timings, you’re in for a great out-of-box experience. Thankfully, the RAM’s only worthwhile drawback is the lack of meaningful overclocking options.

Based on testing, the Viper Steel is classified as a workhorse RAM. When compared to RAM with similar specs, it scores exactly or within a few frames. In contrast, Patriot memory performs significantly better when it comes to compression of files, reading & writing large amounts of data, or rendering in 3D.

G.Skill RipJaws V

Check and buy from Amazon

best ram to pair with 5800x3d

Capacity: 32GB (2x16GB) | Clock speed: 3200MHz | CAS Latency: 16 | Die: SK Hynix C | RGB: No

 Price is excellent

Design that appeals to a wide audience

 Cools without interfering

 Potentia maxed out

For users who want their PCs to be admired and seen, G.Skill makes high-end designer RAM. In addition to its venerable RipJaws line, the company also caters to the thrifty crowd. The final DDR4 iteration offers good performance at an affordable price.

Style isn’t as important to RipJaws buyers as it is to Neo buyers, but the cheaper kit holds its own nevertheless. You won’t find RGB here, so the DIMMs will get styling from their heat spreaders. A beautiful matte black finish is applied to stamped anodized aluminum, which is raised into a slight arch and has two deep cuts on either side that serve as both decoration and surface area increasers.

As a final touch to the visual identity of the kit, a RipJaws V sticker completes the look. From online store pictures, it is unclear how short the RipJaws V sticks are at 41mm. Despite that, you should be able to use it along with any kind of cooler easily.

Comeback of a lifetime

The C-die from SK Hynix is featured in our article for the third time. You get it by enabling AMD’s version of XMP. You get 3200MHz, 1.35V power draw, and CL16. That’s only possible with AMD’s version of XMP. Make sure you do that if you don’t want to stay stuck at 2133MHz.

Having a decline in frequency negatively impacts the RipJaws’ competitiveness. Is this a problem? It is unlikely given the user profile that such memory was designed to appeal to. It seems reasonable to assume that those who want to save RAM will not give much thought to Resident Evil Village having a lower framerate potential or an additional few seconds of rendering time.

Kingston FURY Beast

 check and buy from Amazon

best ram to pair with 5800x3d

Capacity: 16GB (2x8GB) | Clock speed: 3600MHz | CAS Latency: 18 | Die: Samsung B | RGB: Yes

 Performance that was satisfactory

It’s easy to control RGB & looks cool

 Improvements are not needed

King fury is one best ram to pair with 5800x3d. It is fitting that Kingston’s Beast memory line is among its most affordable offerings, as DDR4 is nearing retirement, so it’s fitting that the last memory on this list is also one of the last to be released for it. Kingston is revamping their memory, and this memory is among the last to be released for DDR4. Now we’re going to check whether the alternative’s spot on this list is well deserved. We previously discussed the DDR5 version of this memory.

As far as its visual identity is concerned, you are not imagining things if you think that the Fury Beast is similar to HyperX RAM. Kingston has sold off some IPs while restructuring others, and HyperX RAM is one of the latter. Early models were known for their low-riding, subtly decorated DIMMs, which are still available. Although the iconic name has gone, we’re still able to expect them.

As you might expect, including serviceable RGB was no easy feat either, especially when it is known to drop below $80 during sales. In order to avoid obstructing tight-fitting CPU cooling assemblies, the Beast’s diffuser is low, reducing the impact on its tantalizing LED glow. By breaking the diffuser into smaller light points, several bands are located on either side to add further visual appeal. As well as keeping motherboard compatibility high, Kingston developed its own lighting software.

Nothing That Impressive

This kit’s tech specs page does not mention which die it uses but given the price and HyperX models in the past, we can assume Micron or SK Hynix is the manufacturer of the ICs. In either case, they are capable of holding the Fury Beast at 3600MHz, even at CL18 timings.

In spite of its novelty, the kit’s performance is old hat. The biggest change since the HyperX days is rebranding, as you’ll only notice it if you use stress testing and analytics software like Cinebench or AIDA64 to test your system. During a comprehensive battery of game tests, Fury Beast showed similar frame rates to other kits of its caliber, with a subtle increase in values.

Final thoughts on best ram to pair with 5800x3d

Ryzen 7 5800X3D provided the last stretch of upgrades for the AM4 platform with the much anticipated 3D V-Cache technology. It was an excellent, if somewhat late, SKU. For AMD users who may have been waiting for that final 300 series chipset upgrade to jumpstart older Zen 1 and Zen+ units, it remains a nice option even though its price and tier may no longer be logical for those who leapt into Zen 3 two years ago. In addition, AMD’s mid-tier DDR4 memory modules are also open to overclocking, allowing these old enthusiasts to use the latest DDR4 modules in their machines.
