Although we’ve tested a number of high-end electric scooters, the Kaabo Mantis is unlike anything else we’ve seen. The Mantis is faster than any electric scooter you can buy, and its range is significantly greater than any scooter you can buy.

One of the neatest features of this scooter is the spring arm suspension in the front and rear, which allows it to traverse almost any terrain with ease.

In spite of the fact that you pay a little more than with your average electric scooter, the Kaabo Mantis offers great value for the money. Range

If you ride the Kaabo Mantis Pro SE in eco mode, you’ll be able to travel up to 40 miles / 64 km, whereas if you ride it in turbo mode, you’ll cover about 25 miles / 40 km. There have been several independent owner tests that have confirmed these official scooter ranges. There’s a chance you can get even more range if you ride in eco mode, but also if you take it slow (one owner got 48 mi / 77 km before draining the battery). This is far less than the Dualtron thunder 2 which offers about 60 miles.

Battery

A lithium-ion battery from LG powers the Kaabo Mantis Pro while an FST Li-ion battery runs the Kaabo Mantis Base. However, the Pro version is more expensive and has an incomparably better range. Charging time

Riders will, however, have to fully charge the scooter rather than just the battery. This model also has the disadvantage of a high charging time, requiring between 9 and 12 hours to recharge from empty. According to Kaboom, a fast charger is being developed, which will reduce the time it takes to just 4-5 hours. Moreover, this LG battery is highly efficient and is equipped with a smart Battery Management System (BMS). This BMS protects against faults like under/overvoltage, under/overcurrent, short circuits and other problems.

Motor

There are two motors on the scooter, each of which has a peak power output of 1000 watts. The total peak power of the scooter is 2000 watts. One of the best minimotor controllers in the game, it’s a dual-27A 60 V minimotor controller.

As usual with dual-drive scooters, the motors are brushless DC motors that will provide both excellent speed and superior climbing capacity.

Speed

From Kaabo, 40 miles per hour is the official speed. Electric scooters are fast, so they are an excellent choice if you want to get from A to B quickly. We tested our scooter to see how it performed.

Your current speed is always displayed on the handlebar display. Whenever I got the Mantis Pro for the first time, nearly all my friends wanted to try it. It was achieved at 40 miles per hour (64 kilometers per hour) by everyone. We are looking forward to this scooter living up to its promise!

Deck

Because the scooter is made from the highest-quality materials, it feels solid and sturdy.

There are 8.5 inches / 22 cm of width and 23 inches / 59 cm of length on the deck of the Kaabo Mantis Pro SE. On long rides, the elevated rear of the deck can also be used as a footrest. For preventing slipping, the deck top is covered in a silicon mat.

In the upgraded version of the scooter, the stem is reinforced, which is one of its biggest advantages. The previous Kaabo Mantis version had a small risk of stem defects, but this is much reduced with the new version.

Control panel/ cockpit

In addition to narrow bicycle-style handlebars and a Minimotors-style trigger throttle, the Mantis has a simple-style cockpit. With the cockpit, you can choose between dual and single motor modes, as well as speed (faster or eco turbo) and power.

In high-performance scooters, trigger-style Minimotor throttles become ubiquitous, but are uncomfortable for prolonged usage. A display with an LED information display is built into the throttle trigger which is bright enough to read in sunlight, with a green backlight for night riding. Clicking the power and mode buttons allows a lot of P-settings to be adjusted.

During a ride, you will always be aware of the current speed, gear, and battery level. There are a number of other options available to customize, including throttle, acceleration level, and top speed. It is possible to set a customized speed limit with the Kaabo Mantis Pro. With the Pro-version, Minimotors Eye technology has replaced the base model’s display, which is a significant upgrade.

Lights

There are two LED lights on the front of the deck, two on the rear, and LED light strips on the sides of the scooter. Especially the front and rear lights do not seem to be very powerful. Thanks to Zoom’s brakes, one of the industry’s best manufacturers, the Mantis can be labeled as an extremely safe scooter, thanks to its dual braking system. There will be only a few meters of braking distance with the brakes because they are so responsive.

To prevent the scooter from tipping over when braking from high speeds, it is recommended that you always try to brake using the front brake first.

As an optional feature, you can make the scooter’s E-ABS (electronic antilock braking system) either on or off according to your preference. Personally, I usually leave it on since it makes braking easier. It’s nearly impossible to ride this scooter without a proper helmet since it is quite powerful.

Water resistance

According to Voromotors, the Kaabo Mantis Pro SE does not appear to have an official IP rating, but another place refers to the product as IPX4. It is best to avoid riding in wet conditions unless absolutely necessary, even though several owners have reported riding through some light rain without any problems. You should also avoid hosing your scooter while cleaning it.

Portability

As everyone knows, the Kaabo Mantis weighs quite a bit more than other scooters at 61 pounds (28 kilograms), while the Pro weighs 65 pounds (29 kilograms). Although a high-end scooter with a higher weight isn’t bad, at least it’s not bad for your budget.

You can fold the Kaabo Mantis Pro together to fit in the trunk with the sturdy folding mechanism. Although easy to bring to cafes, this isn’t necessarily the most convenient option. Two locks will keep the stem in place so you don’t have to worry about it wobbling while riding. There have been a few foldable scooters that have faced this problem, however, Kaabo Mantis has been reliable.

Build quality

Even though the Mantis Pro is heavier (30 kg) than most competing models, this shouldn’t be a problem for short trips. The reinforced stem makes for a very robust and durable ride that will withstand any bumps or grazes along the way.

As the frame is still liable to denting, we still do not recommend pushing it to the edge. However, the hand grips held their own without tearing, though they were not remarkable.
