Availability

We already know that the RTX 4080 will be available in November for $1,199, with a formal announcement expected in September 2022. It is built on an AD103 GPU chip, which is smaller than the AD102 GPU of the most recent flagship RTX 4090. The AD103 GPU is based on TSMC’s 4N NVIDIA custom process, which is essentially a 5nm process that has been customized. The RTX 4080 GPU is powered by the Ada Lovelace architecture, just like the flagship RTX 4090.

The GeForce RTX 4080 has 9,728 CUDA centers, giving 49 Shader-TFLOPS of force for customary rasterized designs; 304 Fourth-Generation Tensor Cores with 780 Sparse Tensor-TFLOPS for AI and DLSS processing; also, 76 Third Era Ada RT Centers equipped for 113 RT-TFLOPS for driving cutting edge beam followed illustrations, and 16GB of GDDR6X memory.

At the point when the GeForce RTX 20 series GPUs were presented and delivered, beam following and profound learning super inspecting (DLSS 1.0) were the key elements. The GPUs in the RTX 30 series are essentially improved versions of the RTX 20 series. NVIDIA introduces DLSS 3 and other enhancements this time around with the RTX 40 series GPUs.Also related:    best graphic cards for 4k gaming    Read more on   Best GPU for rendering .

Super Resolution

Super Resolution, Frame Generation, and NVIDIA’s Reflex technologies are all combined in DLSS 3 by NVIDIA. The frame rate is significantly increased and latency is decreased in DLSS 3, resulting in a responsive and smooth gaming experience. As would be natural for NVIDIA – “DLSS 3 is a progressive forward leap in simulated intelligence fueled designs that enormously supports execution utilizing artificial intelligence to create extra great edges”.

The technology looks great on paper. In terms of increasing the game’s frame rate, DLSS 2 was impressive. It was useful, especially for graphics cards in the lower and middle range. Nonetheless, dissimilar to DLSS 2, DLSS 3 is restricted to the RTX 40 series GPUs. What’s more, at the hour of distributing this survey, a couple of games support DLSS 3. Despite the fact that, anticipate that that should change soon as the innovation gets embraced. Also related:   Best Graphics Cards For VR Gaming    Also related: best GPU for gaming under $500

Features of the MSI GeForce RTX 4080 16GB SUPRIM X

All of the graphics cards in the market that are part of the GeForce RTX 40 series share all of the features that the Ada Lovelace architecture provides. After all, the GPU that powers and creates them is the same inside. These custom graphics cards stand out from one another thanks to their cooler design. Custom PCBs and sometimes unnecessary levels of engineering and components are used by some manufacturers. However, due to NVIDIA’s control over the performance of these graphics cards and setting the limit, all RTX 4080 cards will perform the same.

The company’s most popular model is the MSI SUPRIM lineup. MSI offers the Ventus, Gaming Trio, and SUPRIM for the RTX 4080 series. The Ventus OC, Gaming X Threesome, and SUPRIM X have a (somewhat) higher lift clock speed than their non-OC partner. When it comes to clock speeds, the RTX 4080 SUPRIM X has a boost clock speed of 2625 MHz—120 MHz more than the Founders Edition.

MSI’s new SUPRIM seems to be like the RTX 30 series SUPRIM with slight changes. It has an octagonal fan cutout, chevrons around each fan, and a cover made of brushed metal. MSI polished the edges of the graphics card with a diamond-tipped cutter to a mirror finish, despite the fact that the edges appear to be sharp. Simply put, this is a stylish graphics card with a premium appearance. You may also be interested: Best GPU for Intel Core i5-13600K     Read more on Best GPU For Intel Core i7-13700K in 2023

A Closer Look

Box Art The MSI SUPRIM (X)’s box art remained largely unchanged. The box is crisp and white, and on the front is a picture of the graphics card. Additionally, I observed that MSI did not place an emphasis on the RGB lighting this time. All things being equal, the LEDs are white, and just the photograph at the back shows that it’s additionally RGB competent. The lighting on the RTX 4080 SUPRIM X is set to white by default.

At the back of the box, you can read about some of its features and specifications. Keep in mind that this box doesn’t open from the sides but rather from the top. Without the locks, it’s like opening an attache case.

The MSI RTX 4080 SUPRIM X’s front and back views are shown above; they are identical to those of the RTX 4090 SUPRIM. It also resembles the previous RTX 30 series SUPRIM in appearance, with a few modifications. The three Torx 5.0 fans can be seen when you look at the front cooler shroud; The cooler shroud has more metal surface this time around than in previous generations.

Additionally, the logo on the backplate is distinct. MSI put its Dragon logo on the backplate of the RTX 30 SUPRIM. This time, it’s a geometric figure in the shape of a hexagon. However, I am unsure of the meaning or resemblance of that logo. Additionally, there are cutouts next to the logo that let hot air flow through.

Fan stop

Like latest age designs cards, the MSI RTX 4080 SUPRIM highlights a fan stop include. MSI’s graphics card is known as Zero Frozr, but each manufacturer uses its own marketing term. Even under full load, this graphics card functioned silently and inaudibly during my testing. Even the silent mode wasn’t used by me. However, the fans can be heard if the speed is manually increased to maximum.

Tri Frozr 3S thermal design is also present in the MSI RTX 4080 SUPRIM X. This incorporates the accompanying elements:

5.0 TORX Fan: A fan cowl and ring-arc-linked fan blades collaborate to stabilize and sustain high-pressure airflow.

CHAMBER OF VAPOR: A Vapor Chamber covers the GPU and memory modules and rapidly transfers heat to Core Pipes.

Main Pipe: Heat pipes that are precisely machined ensure maximum contact with the GPU baseplate and distribute heat throughout the heatsink’s length.

Control of Airflow: Segments of various heatsink blades disturb undesirable wind current sounds and diminish commotion.

Like the majority of RTX

The MSI RTX 4080 SUPRIM X, like the majority of RTX 4080 graphics cards, has three DisplayPort 1.4a ports and one HDMI 2.1 port. NVIDIA didn’t utilize the fresher DisplayPort 2.1 point of interaction. It remains to be seen whether this will be a problem when the new gaming monitors are released next year.

The brand-new and infamous 16-pin 12VHPWR connector is used by the RTX 4080 graphics cards. The included connector just requires three 8-pin PCIe power connectors. Since the PSU I used has a 16-pin 12VHPWR connector, I didn’t use the adapter that came with it. I haven’t had any (burning) issues with the setup so far. Given that it consumes more power than the RTX 4080, I hope the issue is restricted to the RTX 4090 cards only.

The PCIe power connector is close to the BIOS switch. The silent mode and the gaming mode are clearly labeled. Throughout the testing of this graphics card, I used gaming mode.

I like the new SUPRIM’s appearance in comparison to the previous generation so far. It feels and looks more refined. I like the gold finish on the cutouts and edges. Although it is a small addition, it enhances the aesthetics and attention to detail.

Size comparison

Above, you can see that the RTX 4080 SURPIM X smaller people the NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 2080 Super Pioneers Version card, particularly with regards to thickness. The RTX 4080 SUPRIM X was about the same length as the RTX 3080 Ti SUPRIM X, despite my expectations that it would be larger or longer. The only distinction is that the RTX 4080 is thicker than previous models. The RTX 4080 SUPRIM X has dimensions of 336 x 142 x 78 mm and a weight of approximately 2.36 kg.

Test Setup for the MSI RTX 4080 SUPRIM X Review

I’m using an X670E motherboard with an AMD Ryzen 7 7700X and DDR5-6000MHz memory with an AMD EXPO profile for this generation’s graphics card reviews. The BIOS settings also enabled resizable BAR. The remaining system specifications are as follows:

Windows 11 Professional 64-bit Processor AMD Ryzen 7 7700X Motherboard MSI MPG X670E Carbon WiFi Memory Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5-6000MHz CL30 AMD EXPO Graphics Card MSI GeForce RTX 4080 16GB SUPRIM X OS Drive MSI Spatium M480 Play Game Drive SanDisk Extreme PRO Portable SSD V2 and Extreme Portable SSD V2 Power Supply MSI MPG A1000G PCIE5 Chassis MS The graphics card was tested in three different resolutions: 4K UHD at 3840 x 2160, FHD at 1920 x 1080, and WQHD at 2560 x 1440.

I used the benchmark suite from 3DMark to create synthetic benchmarks. Additionally, I tested the graphics card with the following games: Deus Ex Mankind Divided, Horizon Zero Dawn, Monster Hunter World, Read Dead Redemption 2, The Division 2, and The Witcher 3 are among the games.

I tested the RTX 4080 with Cyberpunk 2077, A Plague Tale for ray tracing and DLSS games: Call of Duty Modern Warfare II, Requiem, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, and Watch Dogs: Forza Horizon 5 and Legion Only the Quality preset was used in all DLSS tests.

Synthetic Benchmark Results

The outcomes I obtained using 3D Mark’s benchmark suite are listed below. Graphics scores can be found on the left, while average frames per second (FPS) can be found on the right.

The results above demonstrate that the GeForce RTX 4080 performs nearly twice as well as its predecessor, the RTX 3080. The RTX 3080 Ti, on the other hand, falls somewhere in the middle. However, there is still a significant performance gap between the RTX 4080 and RTX 3080 Ti.

I regret that I am unable to include an RTX 3090 Ti, RTX 3090, or even the more recent RTX 4090 in the graphs. Only the RTX X080s graphics cards are available to me.

The Zotac RTX 4080 Trinity OC performs similarly to the MSI RTX 4080 SUPRIM X. But don’t be surprised because they are powered by the same AD103 GPU inside. Furthermore, we will see more similitudes in the game benchmark results.

Benchmark Results for DLSS and Ray Tracing with the GeForce RTX 4080 Let’s start with DLSS and ray tracing because this is what NVIDIA is pushing, especially DLSS 3. In terms of ray tracing and DLSS, let’s see if the new RTX 4080 is actually faster than its predecessors.

Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently one of the games with the highest graphics requirements, if not the highest. Even without ray tracing, it is difficult to achieve higher frame rates in 4K without the assistance of DLSS or by lowering the graphics settings. This is due to the GPU’s high demands.

When compared to the RTX 3080, the performance of the RTX 4080 was nearly double that of the latter. The RTX 3080 Ti falls somewhere in the middle once more. However, there is still a significant performance gap between the two.

These graphics cards collapse when Psycho settings enable ray tracing. Even the RTX 4080s was only achieving close to 30 frames per second, giving the game a cinematic feel. We most certainly need to play at a higher casing rate.

The RTX 4080 achieved nearly 60 frames per second at 4K when DLSS was enabled on the graphics cards, while the RTX 3080 and RTX 3080 Ti were hovering around 30 frames per second or higher, respectively. If you go with DLSS performance, you can get a better frame rate. However, the quality preset was used in all DLSS tests.

There is a clever feature in the RTX 40 series GPUs. DLSS 3 with AI frame generation is the name of it. It inserts a frame in between two others to create a frame. Similar to DLSS 2, but enhanced. The above results indicate that the two RTX 4080 graphics cards achieved an average frame rate of 78 fps. That is approximately twice as fast as the RTX 3080 Ti.

Unfortunately, the RTX 40 series is the only one that supports DLSS 3. Furthermore, the more seasoned RTX 30 and RTX 20 series GPUs don’t uphold DLSS 3. Perhaps in the future, but perhaps not. The future will tell. Read more on   Best gpu for ryzen 5 2600  .          Read more on   Best Budget Graphics Card

A Plague Tale: Requiem

Another challenging game is Requiem A Plague Tale Requiem. I don’t have the foggiest idea why it’s so weighty, albeit the designs look decent. After you have some control over the person, the casing rate begins failing for the RTX 3080 and RTX 3080 Ti. At 1080p and 1440p, the RTX 3080 and 3080 Ti can still produce more than 60 frames per second. However, at 4K resolution, both felt sluggish. In contrast, at 4K resolution, the RTX 4080 cards with ultra graphics quality barely manage 60 frames per second.

Again, DLSS saves the day. Subsequent to empowering DLSS, we can see a vastly improved outline rate. Using DLSS quality would have increased the frame rate. However, DLSS 3 on the RTX 4080 can significantly improve performance over DLSS 2. The RTX 4080’s edge age is working like wizardry. Additionally, the game appears to be more responsive and fluid with NVIDIA reflex.

I have only tested Cyberpunk 2077 and A Plague Tale with DLSS 3 thus far. When DLSS 3 was turned on, I didn’t see any strange artifacts or distortions in the image. I’ll look more into DLSS 3 in a different article from now on.

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered

I decided to exclude the 1080p results in Spider-Man Remastered. The results of all the cards were identical. In addition, the performances at 1440p and 1080p were somewhat comparable. I don’t know if it was a bug or something else. However, I decided to exclude 1080p outcomes from this game’s title. In any case, the RTX 4080’s intended resolution is not 1080p.

This game is well-suited for the older RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3080. Only at 4K did both graphics cards have some trouble. However, by empowering DLSS, I could get over 60 fps outline rate. However, I was anticipating a higher frame rate with the RTX 4080.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare II

I utilized the underlying benchmark apparatus in Extraordinary mission at hand Present day Fighting II. To achieve those smooth and high frame rates, many competitive players tend to adjust the graphics setting and reduce or disable most visual effects. Nevertheless, I was able to achieve more than 200 frames per second in 1080p and 1440p with the assistance of DLSS and the extreme graphics preset.

At 4K resolution, I achieved approximately 140 frames per second. Compared to the RTX 3080 and RTX 3080, this represents a performance increase of approximately 40 to 55 percent. Not at all bad.

Watch Dogs: Legion

The same story can be told in Legion and Watch Dogs Legion. The RTX 4080 outperforms both the RTX 3080 and RTX 3080 in terms of performance. However, in order to achieve higher frame rates at 4K resolution, this game could benefit from DLSS 3.

Forza Horizon 5

Last but not least, I tried out Forza Horizon 5 with ray tracing enabled. This game doesn’t have a weighty beam following punishment. Whether ray tracing is enabled or disabled, performance is not significantly different. Therefore, I chose to test the game only with ray tracing enabled.

The RTX 4080 is approximately 53% faster than the RTX 3080 at 4K resolution. Furthermore, it is about 33% faster than the RTX 3080 Ti. Compared to what DLSS 3 can do, this performance isn’t all that impressive. Despite this, it is still a significant improvement over its predecessor.

1080p Game Benchmark Results

Benchmark Results for a 1080p Game It’s time to see what I got with traditional rasterization. I won’t go into detail about them because the results can speak for themselves.

None of these graphics cards are designed to run at 1080p. I unequivocally propose that you don’t buy a RTX 4080/3080 (Ti) assuming you just utilize a 1920×1080 screen. During my tests, I notice that the GPU is not fully utilized, indicating that there is a CPU bottleneck in this situation. Consequently, there is still some performance available. However, the outcomes of these high-end GPU tests at 1080p are as follows:

1440p Game Benchmark Results

1440p Game Benchmark Results With a resolution of 2560 x 1440, the GeForce RTX 4080 can work harder, especially on ultrawide 1440p monitors. The GPU load typically exceeds 95% to 99% most of the time. However, there are occasions and scenarios in which the GPU load is only approximately 80 percent++. In any case, for illustrations concentrated games, similar to Cyberpunk 2077, the RTX 4080 may not be a terrible decision, particularly in the event that you need your edge rates reliably high.

Results from a 2160p Game Benchmark The GeForce RTX 4080 GPU is made for 4K UHD gaming. There are still some games that can bring the RTX 4080 to its knees despite its power. Also, that is where DLSS or DLSS 3 comes in, as seen from the outcomes above. However, the RTX 4080 is still a good choice for 4K gaming, even in traditional rasterization.

In traditional rasterization, the RTX 3080 and RTX 4080 no longer deliver the same amount of performance. Despite this, the RTX 4080 still stands out, outperforming the RTX 3080 by 30 to 50 percent. The increase can enhance your 4K gaming experience and is still substantial. The cost is the only thing left to think about.

MSI GeForce RTX 4080 Evaluating and Accessibility

NVIDIA’s true evaluating for the GeForce RTX 4080 beginnings at $1,199. Nonetheless, expect that illustrations cards from accomplices like MSI can be higher than the base cost. The MSRP of the MSI GeForce RTX 4080 SURPIM X will be $1,379.99. The RTX 4080 Gaming X Trio, on the other hand, costs $1,309.00, while the RTX 4080 Ventus OC costs $1,249.99. The MSI RTX 4080 Ventus (non-OC) is the only one priced at $1,199, which is the NVIDIA base price.

At the time this audit was distributed, these RTX 4080 cards were either unavailable or not recorded at this point. Yet, I anticipate that accessibility should work on in the next few days or weeks. Please follow the links below for the most recent pricing and availability information.

Is It Excessively Big?

The thermals haven’t been included yet. However, the RTX 4080 had never reached 70°C during my testing. Even when running at full capacity, it was barely audible. It suggests that the RTX 4080’s GPU temperature could be controlled with a smaller graphics card cooler design. The large heatsink may be excessive and unnecessary, in my opinion. Only if it is a statement. By and by, I desire to see a more modest RTX 4080 variation later on. The RTX 4070 (Ti) should be lighter than the RTX 4080.

Lastly, the MSI GeForce RTX 4080 SUPRIM X graphics card is excellent. It simply won’t let you down. The raw performance of the RTX 4080 and DLSS 2 are already remarkable. However, with DLSS 3, everything is completely different. In conjunction with Frame Generation and Reflex, NVIDIA’s DLSS makes gaming at higher resolution a breeze. I hope that soon more games will use the technology. However, I would like to see the GeForce RTX 4080 priced lower overall..

 Final thoughts

Conclusion of the MSI GeForce RTX 4080 16GB SUPRIM X Review According to my findings, the GeForce RTX 4080 outperforms its direct predecessor, the RTX 3080 10GB, in terms of performance. We do not have a 12GB RTX 3080, despite my knowledge of its existence. In any case, when DLSS 3 is enabled, the performance gap becomes even more pronounced. However, keep in mind that, as of right now, only a few games support DLSS 3. However, this will soon change.

The MSI GeForce RTX 4080 SUPRIM X graphics card is excellent. It works well, runs quietly most of the time, is hard to hear, and looks and feels very expensive. This graphics card cannot be fully described by the photos alone. Holding one close by and seeing it very close is a wonderful encounter. Yet, the exceptional ness of the SUPRIM X accompanies an expense.

The RTX 4080 is fast, but it costs a lot for a GPU of 80-class. I have no issues with the performance. Although it is impressive, it could stand to start at a lower price. If a retailer wants to capitalize on the high demand, these graphics cards typically command higher retail prices. Additionally, the RTX 3080 is its direct predecessor, and that GPU starts at $699. That is an increase in price of 70% from the RTX 3080 to the RTX 4080. Without DLSS 3, however, the performance gap is only about 30% to 50%.
